Canada EI Contribution Calculator
Estimate your annual Employment Insurance (EI) premium and your employer’s matching share.
This is an estimate for general informational purposes only. Quebec has its own reduced EI rate (because of the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan) and is not covered by this calculator, which applies to the rest of Canada.
Employment Insurance premiums are 1.64% of insurable earnings (outside Quebec) up to the annual Maximum Insurable Earnings (MIE), which is $68,900 for 2026. Employers pay 1.4 times the employee premium.
Example
- With the default values shown above, this calculator returns: Your EI Premium ≈ CAD 902.00; Employer’s EI Premium (1.4x) ≈ CAD 1,262.80; At Maximum Insurable Earnings?: No.
