Midpoint Calculator

Enter the coordinates of two points to find the midpoint between them.

Midpoint Calculator

Find the midpoint (the point exactly halfway) between two coordinates on a 2D plane.

This calculator provides an estimate for general informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional financial, mechanical or engineering advice.

The midpoint between two points is simply the average of their x-coordinates and the average of their y-coordinates — commonly needed in geometry, mapping and graphics.

Example

  • With the default values shown above, this calculator returns: Midpoint X ≈ 5.00; Midpoint Y ≈ 7.00.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the midpoint formula?

Midpoint = ((x1 + x2) ÷ 2, (y1 + y2) ÷ 2) — simply the average of the two x-coordinates and the average of the two y-coordinates.

Does this work for 3D points?

No, this calculator is for 2D coordinates. For 3D points you would also average the z-coordinates.
