EV Charging Cost Calculator
Enter your EV's battery capacity, the charge percentage you need, your electricity price and charger efficiency to estimate the charging cost.
EV Charging Cost Calculator
Estimate the cost to charge an electric vehicle, accounting for charging losses (charger and battery efficiency).
Charging an EV isn't perfectly efficient — some energy is lost as heat. This calculator accounts for that loss to give a realistic estimate of both the energy drawn from the grid and the resulting cost.
Example
- With the default values shown above, this calculator returns: Energy Drawn from the Grid ≈ 53.33; Estimated Charging Cost ≈ USD 8.00.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does charger efficiency matter?
Not all the electricity drawn from the grid ends up stored in the battery — some is lost as heat during charging. At 90% efficiency, you draw about 11% more energy from the grid than actually gets stored.
How can I find my electricity price per kWh?
Check your household electricity bill, or your public charging network's app if charging away from home.
