Frequently Asked Questions
How is floor different from rounding?
Rounding goes to the nearest whole number either up or down. Floor always rounds down (or stays the same if already whole), even for something like 4.99.
What about negative numbers?
The floor of a negative number rounds toward negative infinity — for example, the floor of −4.2 is −5, not −4.
