This calculator divides your total fence length by the post spacing to find how many spacing intervals fit, adds one for the final post at the end of the run, and separately multiplies the fence length by the number of horizontal rail rows to estimate total rail material. It's built for a single straight fence run — for fence lines with corners, gates, or multiple separate sections, add posts for each additional section manually.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there one extra post added?
A straight run of fence needs one more post than the number of full spacing intervals — for example, 4 spacings of equal length require 5 posts to bookend all of them.
Does this account for corners or gates?
No — this assumes one continuous straight run; add extra posts manually for corners, gate openings, or separate fence sections.
