India Income Tax Calculator (New Regime)

Estimate your income tax liability under the new tax regime for individuals.

This is an estimate for general informational purposes only, not tax advice. It models the new tax regime only, without marginal relief near the ₹12,00,000 threshold. Consult a tax professional or the Income Tax Department for your actual liability.

India's new tax regime (the default regime since FY 2023-24) applies revised slabs effective FY 2025-26, along with a Section 87A rebate that makes tax payable nil for taxable income up to ₹12,00,000. Salaried individuals also get a ₹75,000 standard deduction. This calculator does not model marginal relief for incomes just above ₹12,00,000, or the old tax regime with its deductions (80C, HRA, etc.) — those require a separate comparison.

Example

  • With the default values shown above, this calculator returns: Taxable Income ≈ ₹1425000.00; Income Tax (before cess) ≈ ₹93750.00; Health & Education Cess (4%) ≈ ₹3750.00; Total Tax Payable ≈ ₹97500.00.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my tax zero even though there are slabs starting at ₹4,00,000?

The Section 87A rebate fully offsets tax liability for taxable income up to ₹12,00,000 under the new regime, effectively making income up to that level tax-free (subject to marginal relief rules for incomes just above the threshold, which this calculator does not model).

Does this include the old tax regime?

No, this calculator only models the new tax regime slabs. The old regime (with deductions like 80C, HRA exemption, etc.) can work out better for some taxpayers — compare both before filing.
