Germany Kindergeld Calculator (Child Benefit)
Estimate your monthly and annual Kindergeld (child benefit) payment.
This is an estimate for general informational purposes only. Kindergeld amounts are set by the Bundestag and reviewed periodically; families with higher incomes should also compare against the Kinderfreibetrag (child tax allowance) which the tax office applies automatically if more beneficial (Günstigerprüfung).
Since the 2023 reform, Kindergeld pays a single flat monthly rate per child, regardless of whether it is your first, second or later child. It is generally paid until a child turns 18 (or 25 while in education/training).
Example
- With the default values shown above, this calculator returns: Monthly Kindergeld ≈ EUR 510.00; Annual Kindergeld ≈ EUR 6,120.00.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the amount differ by which child it is?
No — since the January 2023 reform, Kindergeld pays the same flat rate for every child, replacing the old system where the third and later children received more.
Until what age can I claim Kindergeld?
Generally until a child turns 18, or up to age 25 if they are in school, vocational training, university, or completing a recognized voluntary service, provided they are not yet in full-time paid work.
